A Cinematic Adventure!

***Disclaimer: these photos were taken with my point and shoot and even I am extremely unimpressed with the quality.  That being said...bad photos are better than no photos at all...at least in my book =)  The importance is that I documented this first!***

For Monkey's first trip to the movie theater, we went to our local downtown (small town) theater that plays one, maybe two movies a day.  We had been wanting to see TANGLED for quite some time...but there's something about getting a babysitter and going to an animated movie that just GETS to me.  If we're getting a babysitter...I want to do something ADULT-ish.  Sooo...we decided two just MIGHT be old enough to go.

As soon as we got into the theater doors, Monkey spotted the popcorn...

 He headed straight towards it as I started snapping some pictures.  Immediately the employees caught on that this was his first trip and announced the Tuesday special: free popcorn for first timers! =)  (Of course we bought a big 'ole bag and drinks for the two of us as well =)

After we found our seats, Monkey had to explore every square inch of the place...including the woman's bathroom where he QUICK got a diaper change before the movie started!

Up and down the aisle he ran!  Fortunately there was only 4 other people TOTAL in the theater...a dad with his daughter and a mom with her son.  They totally GOT IT and didn't mind his antics at all (PHEW!).

Yummy pop-a-corn!!!  Sittin' down to enjoy the movie...we'll see how long he lasts!

He coulda cared less about the pictures (or anything else for that matter) as long as popcorn was IN HIS LAP!

My boys =)  I love them!  (Doesn't my hubster look so handsome??  He's got the BEST smile...just in case you wondered where Monkey got it from =)

Chowin' down!  And notice the bags???  Yep, we came prepared with coloring books, story books, lots of cars, diapers, wipes, milk, chocolate, fruit snacks...you name it!  The key to any successful toddler adventure is to BE PREPARED!!!!

So how did he do?  Not to shabby.  He could see just fine, but once the movie started he just preferred to be seated in one of our laps...which was just fine by us!  HE thought the movie had a slow start...meaning it just took a while for him to get into it.  But once the characters were really developed he seemed to enjoy it.  About 20 minutes before the end he tried to crawl off my lap saying "all done" so it took some effort to keep him there (note the BAGS of goodies...I think we went though 7 packs of fruit snacks?!?) but it was worth it. He had so much fun!  Although we won't be making this a NORMAL thing...its a fun treat every now and then...with the right movie.

And how was the movie???  All three of us really loved it!  Cutesie!!!

Movie Night!!!

SINCE it's movie night and all....had to share my movie review as well....
We watched Date Night (you know...Steve Carell and Tina Fey...) and it was SOOOO hilarious!  We missed moments here and there due to loudly barking dogs and toddler temper tantrums and lots of questions from the kids....but we still laughed our butts off (oh shoot, nevermind...there it is again!) and had a great time.  A lot of that was due to the company though!  Thank you Coryell's....as always, it was a pleasure!!!

ECLIPSE...and Surprise Status!

So....as you probably know, last night was our date night.  Our first date night since November, when the last Twilight movie, New Moon, came into theatres.  As you can see, it takes a lot to get me out of the house and away from my boy.  And even more to pay a babysitter.  Fortunately for us, we still had a free night of babysitting that we won from our church's Taco Talent Night & Auction from last October.  Score! 

So yes, I was one of those crazy fans who purchased Eclipse tickets well before opening night...except to avoid fanatic screeching teens, we opted to go to the local Cinebarre (drinks + dinner + movie = GREAT time...not that I know...no alcohol for us ;) at 4pm.  Not only was there actually parking available at the theatre, but we got amazing seats with no one next to us - double score! 

The movie - amazing!  You should (and probably already do) understand that first and foremost I'm a huge fan of the books.  Incredible - nothing compares to those, for sure!  But I have enjoyed each movie so far, no matter how cheesey others claim they are.  Since even the non-fans have claimed this movie was great, it should be no surprise that I loved it!  As with anyone who really loves the books, its always a little frustrating, although completely understandable that they have to alter the storyline a tiny bit.  But I feel that they probably altered Eclipse LESS than the other movies so far, so I was thrilled about that.  And with the last two I left thinking, I wish they would have included this scene...but not so with Eclipse.  ALL my favorite parts of the book were in the movie, including this scene....



=P LOL!  Gotta love a love triangle, right?!? 



Speaking of the love triangle, my only real disappointment was that I think they tamed down Jacob's mean-ness a lot more than Edwards...and being 100% Team Edward, that bugged me a little (JUST a little though, I promise...and that was after-the-fact).  But that's probably because I have a Team Jacob hubby on my hands who I am trying to convert.  I still haven't asked him what he thought though...team wise...after Eclipse.  Beause I was convinced that Eclipse would convert him to Team Edward, where he belongs. =)

Anyway...movie was a hit, definately go see it!

Thanks again J for babysitting!  We appreciated the getaway, and Monkey had a great time!  You must have kept him a busy bee because he was begging for bedtime last night!

Status update on the surprise - I suppose I should have mentioned that the surprise is all dependent on the weather....which SO FAR isn't looking so hot for the first day of July.  However, the forecast did mention the possibility of a nice afternoon.  So...MAYBE you'll have a surprise tomorrow!  ;)  If not, next week...  Sorry to keep you hangin'!!!
